Not so sure Joe Cole did. I think Dicks came back with Liverpool and got a good reception.

Didn't ask to move, bought tickets and gave them away to unemployed people across Liverpool, probably one of the most deserving of a good reception in the modern game, no matter what you thought of him as a player.
I would assume Cole, Rio, Carrick all got a good reception when they returned. Really not their fault they had to go.

Stewart Robson got a decent reception, as did Paul Goddard before him, the obvious one more recently is Tevez.
You're not entitled to a decent welcome back though so they should be grateful.
